Guatemala is one of the poorest nations in the world

It is estimated that nearly half of the 14 million people live on less than $2 per day and 15% on less than $1 per day. Guatemala’s social development indicators, such as infant mortality, chronic child malnutrition, and illiteracy, are among the worst in the hemisphere.

Hope Renewed International (HRI) began in 2010 with the determination to make a sustainable difference in the lives of the people of Guatemala. The guiding question around which the organization operates is, “How do we exemplify Jesus’ love for the poor, while creating opportunities for people in at-risk communities without creating dependency on an organization?”

Therefore, the mission of the organization

is to share the love of Christ by transforming lives in at-risk communities through care, education, opportunity and formation.
